Hello Oxfam Hokies!

Hey everyone!
To kick off a great new semester, Oxfam at Virginia Tech will be going chalking on Monday, Jan. 23! Meet up outside Burruss Hall at 8 pm to get some green chalk, and go spread the word about us in classrooms around campus!
If you’re reading this, chances are you’re a creative individual with many ideas about how you can make the world a better place. How about voicing a few of those ideas in the Dell Social Innovation Challenge? This challenge is a creative platform for students who have projects solving issues of global concern. The proposed projects are split into categories like Education, Agriculture, Health, Economic Development, Technology, Environment, Food and Nutrition, Poverty, Energy and Human Rights. And if your idea gets enough votes, you can get funding to get your projects started! You can even join the dialogue and help existing projects. This is a wonderful way to get involved with global issues that you’re passionate about, and we hope to see some Hokies contribute to the social innovation dialogue going on around the world!
Thank you all for making 2011 a wonderful, eventful and active year for Oxfam at Virginia Tech. With your help we hosted a hunger banquet, multiple bake sales, and an OxJAM dance party this semester! Our consistent participation in campus events such as Gobblerfest and International Street Fair has also increased awareness about our causes and goals in the Virginia Tech community. Our upcoming events for Spring 2012 include a Fair Trade Fair, another musical event at Gillies restaurant, and of course The Big Event at Virginia Tech.
Don’t forget to stay in touch with Oxfam at Virginia Tech on Facebook and Twitter! Thanks for making 2011 a wonderful year, and let’s make 2012 an even better one!
Love,
The VT Oxfamily
